Overview

The purpose of the Lab-to-Market Series is to create awareness and further understanding of the legal issues surrounding technology commercialization and entrepreneurship. This is done primarily through conferences and webcast presentations. The  conferences address such issues as the protection and commercialization of intellectual property, technology transfer practices, patent, copyright and trademark law, and licensing agreements. The Lab-to-Market Series is designed to engage people involved in research, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer practices, including:  business development officers, research directors,  technology transfer officers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, university faculty.

   
Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Information Industry Conference

A conference titled Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Information Industry, will take place on October 23 at New York Law School (NYLS), 185 West Broadway, New York City.. There is no charge for the conference but registration is required. The conference is sponsored by NYSTAR and is being coordinated by the NYS Science and Technology Law Center (STLC) at Syracuse University Law School and two programs at NYLS; the Institute for Information Law and Policy, and the Center for Business Law and Policy.
 
The conference will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, information managers and university technology transfer officers for a day long exploration of the information industry today, and information needs of tomorrow. Entrepreneurship issues as they apply to the information industry will be explored. Speakers include Clay Shirky, Professor, New York University, author of ?Here Comes Everybody?, Owen Davis, Managing Director, NYC Seed, Edward Reinfurt, Executive Director, NYSTAR, Jim Kollegger, Genesys Partners, Vincent Tomaselli, Deputy Director, Columbia Center for Advanced Information Management, Daniel Shutzer, President, Financial Services Technology Consortium, and Dr. Steven Neiman, Executive Director at JPMorgan Chase.
